Step-by-step, the service will keep you on track for all your payroll tasks, whether you’re running payroll or issuing W-2s. For pay days, ATA Online Payroll instantly calculates your deductions and lets you pay employees either by direct deposit or by a check from your account. Payroll tax payments can be made electronically and are as easy as clicking a button. All federal and many state payroll tax filings can also be made electronically. Best of all, ATA Online Payroll integrates with QuickBooks as well as many other accounting software packages, so you never have to enter data twice.
| How secure is ATA Online Payroll? |
- ATA Bank takes the security of your data very seriously. Password protection, advanced encryption technology, 128-bit Secure Socket Layers, firewalls, heavily guarded servers and intrusion-detection devices all work together to prevent unauthorized access.
| Does ATA Online Payroll handle W-2s? |
- ATA Online Payroll will take care of your W-2s. An email reminder is sent when it is time to issue W-2s. You will see the completed W-2s on-screen. You simply print out copies to plain or perforated paper and distribute to your employees. Click a button to submit the W-2s electronically to the Social Security Administration.

| How is ATA Online Payroll different from payroll in accounting software? |
ATA Online Payroll offers easy, accurate and complete payroll unlike what you find with accounting software solutions. ATA Online Payroll has features you won’t find in other solutions like helpful email reminders, free direct deposit, an employee website for accessing pay stubs and payroll history, electronic federal tax payments and filings, and electronic state tax payments and filings, to name a few. What’s more, ATA Online Payroll maintains up-to-date tax tables and forms, so you never have to worry about updates. The benefits of software-as-a-service (SaaS) versus desktop software include:
- No software to purchase and install
- No upgrades to purchase and install
- No maintenance or back-up required
- With SaaS, the employer has the convenience of anytime, anywhere access via any Internet connection; with desktop software, the employer is tied to a single desktop.
| How is ATA Online Payroll different than traditional payroll services? |
- ATA Online Payroll takes a completely different approach than some more traditional payroll services. ATA Online Payroll uses the Internet to automate all the tedious, time-consuming payroll work, yet it still keeps you in full control. You process pay day, tax payments and tax filings on your schedule, not someone else’s. For future tax payments, the money stays in your account until you tell us to send your payment. Even better, ATA Online Payroll is significantly less costly than most traditional payroll services.

ATA Online Payroll works with (Quicken compatible) laser voucher checks with the check on the top third of the page, and the stub on the bottom two thirds of the page. Initial confirmation takes approximately 10-14 days and the initial direct deposit requires a 5-day lead time. After that, there is a 2-day lead time for direct deposit. For example, approve direct deposits on Wednesday by 8 pm (ET) to guarantee they will arrive in your employees’ accounts on Friday.
- You may direct deposit to employee accounts, and direct deposit is free of charge.
